I’ve had the pleasure of working with Maria on two recent events. The first was a beautifully curated private dinner that I hosted for a few friends. I felt completely at ease giving Maria full control of the menu, she was extremely meticulous and ensured that my guests were taken on a Sierra Leonean inspired culinary journey with a twist. Needless to say, everyone was full of praise throughout dinner.
The second event was a wedding party(and cocktail hour) that I organized. The theme was African Wonderland and it was imperative that the dining experience was complementary. Maria did a fantastic job, it was absolute perfection from the designing of the menu, the sourcing of ingredients, to the food styling and overall execution on the day.
So why MBK? Maria has elevated the Sierra Leonean dining experience to new heights. Her passion for food is consistently demonstrated through her spectacular attention to detail in ensuring that the food is of the highest quality at all times. Her ability to take street-food like untu and serve it as an hors d’oeuvre, or take the classic pepeh chicken and put it in a shot glass and my personal favourite, kan kan kan.
Her creativity is mind-blowing and just when you think you’ve tasted it all, she serves you cassava croquettes!
I can’t wait to see what the future holds for MBK and look forward to working on many more events together.

Maria helped to conceptualise my baby shower both in terms of the overall creative aesthetic for the event, but also the food which for me was the most important part.
Maria and I worked remotely to organise a birthday event in Liberia. She designed a custom menu for me drawing inspiration from popular local food, but with an innovative fine dining twist.

Maria's chili sauce is amazingly delicious ... not only does it deliver on the heat factor, it is also full of flavour.
